CHIANG RAI - CHIANG SAEN (L) | |
| Arrive at
Chiang Rai Airport and transfer to hotel in Chiang Saen, a former Lanna
principality dating back to 1328 on the Thai-Laotian border. Orientation
tour after lunch at a local restaurant and visit Wat Phra That Chom Kitti
and Wat Chedi Luang. Overnight in Chiang Saen.

CHIANG SAEN (B, L) | |
| After
breakfast, depart to Sop Ruak, a small trading village and the point where
Thailand, Myanmar and Laos meet. Continue by long-tail speed boat on the
Mekong River along the Laotian border, downstream to Muang Karn Pier.
Continue 15 minutes driving to Chiang Kong.Stop en route to visit a Laotian
weaving factory. After lunch at a local restaurant drive back to Chiang Saen,
breaking the journey at a traditional H’mong hill tribe village. Rest of the
day at leisure. Overnight in Chiang Saen.

CHIANG SAEN - MAE SAI - MAE SALONG - MAE CHAN/CHIANG RAI (B, L) | |
| Depart to Mae
Sai, the northernmost Thai town on the Myanmar border. Walk around the local
market or even cross the border to the Burmese town of Takhilek. Continue
driving through spectacular mountain scenery to Mae Salong via Pha Mi and
Doi Tung. Visit Yao and Akha hill tribe villages on the way. After lunch at
a local restaurant continue through scenic mountain scenery to Mae
Chan/Chiang Rai. Overnight in Mae Chan/Chiang Rai.

MAE CHAN/CHIANG RAI - CHIANG MAI (B, L, D) | |
|
After breakfast, travel by boat on the
Kok River from Chiang Rai to Mae Salak, with visits to riverside hill tribe
communities. Packed lunch on the way. After disembarking continue to Chiang
Mai, stopping en route to visit the Chiang Dao Caves and an orchid farm. In
the evening enjoy a traditional Kantoke dinner, accompanied by a hill tribe
show. Overnight in Chiang Mai.

breakfast, stroll through Chiang Mai and (if you have an evening flight)
visit Wat Phra Thad Doi Suthep before transferring to airport for departure
flight.
