ANICIENT CAPITALS - 6 Days / 5 Nights

ARRIVE BANGKOK
Arrive in Bangkok and transfer to hotel. In the early afternoon proceed to the Royal Grand Palace (closed on Sundays – the alternative is the National Museum). See Wat Phra Kaeo, the holiest Buddhist site in the country, housing the Emerald Buddha; the Golden Chedi; the Pantheon of the Chakri Kings and the Eight Coloured Towers. Overnight in Bangkok.

BANGKOK - AYUTHAYA (B, L)
After breakfast, board a cruise upriver to the former capital of Thailand, Ayuthaya. Visit the Historical Park and its temples among them Wat Phra Si Sanphet, Wat Phra Mahathat, Wat Phra Meru, Wat Yai Chaya Mongkol and the ancient ruins of Wat Chai Wattanaram. Lunch during the cruise. Dinner at leisure. Overnight in Ayuthaya.

AYUTHAYA - SUKOTHAI (B, L)
After breakfast, drive to Sukothai, via Lopburi. Lunch at a local restaurant in Pithsanulok. Short drive to Sukhothai, Thailand’s first capital, ruling Siam from the mid-13th century to the late 14th century, the “Golden Age” of Thai culture and visit the Sukhothai Historical Park. Overnight in Sukothai.

SUKOTHAI - CHIANG MAI (B, L, D)
After breakfast, drive to and visit Sri Satchanalai, a less restored and less visited site. Continue to Lampang, and stop for lunch at a local restaurant. Reach Chiang Mai in the afternoon and visit its main temples within the city walls: Wat Chedi Luang, Wat Chiang Man and Wat Phra Singh. In the evening enjoy a Kantoke dinner spectacle accompanied by a hill tribe dance show. Overnight in Chiang Mai.

CHIANG MAI - CHIANG SAEN (B, L)
After breakfast, drive up Doi Suthep mountain overlooking Chiang Mai to visit Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep. After lunch at a local restaurant, drive northwards to Chiang Rai and Chiang Saen, a former Lanna principality dating back to 1328. Overnight in Chiang Saen.

CHIANG SAEN - MAE SAI - CHIANG RAI (B, L)
After breakfast, visit Wat Phra That Chom Kitti and Wat Chedi Luang before heading to Sop Ruak, a small trading village and the actual point where Thailand, Myanmar and Laos meet. Continue to Mae Sai, the northernmost Thai town on the Myanmar border. Walk around the local market or cross the border to the Burmese town of Takhilek. After lunch at a local restaurant, drive to Chiang Rai and transfer to the airport for onward flight.
